Exploring Hue How to get to Hue Where to stay

Discover Hue

Hue is a city near the historical border of North and South Vietnam. This border, also called the DMZ, was established during the Vietnam War.

Its main attraction is the Citadel. You can walk around for several hours and get to know the history of this Imperial City. But if you are not that interested in history, we think you can better spend your time at other destinations in Vietnam.

We recommend staying in Hue only as a stopover for Hai Van Pass. The High Van (Mountain) Pass is a scenic road along the coast between Hue and DaNang. It is one of the greatest ocean roads in the world and is often referred to as the Great Ocean Road of Vietnam.

The best way to explore Hai Van Pass is by motorbike tour. You can rent a motorbike (with or without a guide) and drive to Hoi An. The rental company takes care of your luggage and transports your backpacks with their van to Hue.

Cửa Thượng Tứ

Are you thinking about driving a bike in Vietnam? Then, this is the part where you should do it. Some great stops along this road are Elephant rock and the Marble Mountains.

In case you are too scared to drive a bike or have never driven one before, you can also hop on the backseat with a motorbike guide. Another alternative is to take the train. The railway follows the same route so you can still catch a glimpse of this beautiful view.
